Marten River Lodge named in top 10% with 2020 Travelers’ Choice Award
Donna and Ray Sapiano, owners of Marten River Lodge are extremely pleased to announce that Marten River Lodge has been named in the top 10% of Tripadvisor’s® 8.7 million worldwide listings, attaining distinction with a 2020 Travelers’ Choice Award!
With impeccable historic log cabins, main lodge and dining room that date back to 1925 set on 12 acres of pristine waterfront and surrounded by old growth forests and game preserves, Marten River Lodge is truly among the oldest and legendary resource-based tourism destinations in Ontario. Located just 4 hours north of Toronto in the Temagami region, MRL caters to anglers, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts offering all-inclusive outdoor adventure packages complete with gourmet dining and guided fishing and hunting excursions. Hosting both domestic and international guests each year, sportsmen and sportswomen, families, corporate groups, weddings and other group events have all come to enjoy our quality fisheries, outstanding wildlife and a high-level of customer service that has earned us Tripadvisor’s® five-star rating. MRL has also hosted national television programs including The Fish’n Canada Show, Extreme Angler TV and The New Fly Fisher, all of which aired in Canada and the US and streamed worldwide.
Tripadvisor® has become the standard by which many travelers base their decisions about where to go to spend their hard-earned vacation time. MRL’s top ranking among lodge and resort destinations in Ontario has contributed to sustained growth and earned us a reputation that is consistent with the high level of customer satisfaction we strive to uphold. We thank all of our amazing guests who have taken the time out of their busy schedules to review their experience with us and for their unwavering commitment and support, particularly as we work even harder to sustain our high standards through these difficult times.
Though COVID-19 has had a severe impact on tourism in Ontario, especially with the loss of international visitors, MRL has adapted its operations to comply with public health protocols in ensuring a safe experience for both staff and guests. “We lost a third of our season since we only opened on July 1st. Since then, we have been pleased with the high response from within the province and we have actually exceeded our expectations so far. There seems to be a great deal of pent up demand and people are discovering new experiences in what we have to offer,” says Mr. Sapiano. This recognition, particularly at this time, validates that MRL and tourism experiences in Northern Ontario are competitive worldwide.”
MRL operates each year from May to October. We still have availability for 2020 and are booking now for 2021 and beyond.
While the Sapiano’s have long held a commitment to upholding MRL’s 87-year tradition of providing outstanding service and memorable outdoor experiences, much of the credit for this highly exclusive recognition goes to our teams over the years who tirelessly over-deliver on our brand promise day-in and day-out. “We are in the business of building memories” says Ray Sapiano,” and each member of our team understands that every touch-point with our guests is an opportunity to enhance their experience with us.”
